Meet the Top Luxury Car Brands of 2018
The ultimate luxury car should offer the perfect combination of style, performance and safety. At a certain level, of course, price is no longer an issue. The most expensive car brands – such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Aston Martin – are priced well out of the budget of most consumers. But it’s possible to buy truly high-end cars from some of the world’s most famous automakers for less than $40,000. Here’s a brief look at the best luxury car brands 2018.
Heading up the luxury car brands list are BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Based on 2017 sales figures, Mercedes-Benz had two of the Top 10 bestselling luxury cars of 2017, while BMW had three. Coming in at No. 1 was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, with a base model sticker price of just over $41,000. According to nearly every characteristic – safety, style, and performance – the C-Class is off the charts. And the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is no slouch, either, coming in at No. 4 on the sales chart for the best luxury car brands.
The three BMW luxury brands that cracked the Top 10 included the BMW 3 Series (No. 2), the BMW 5 Series (No. 6), and the BMW 4 Series (No. 7). Other exclusive car bands on the luxury car brands list include the Lexus ES (No. 3), Infiniti Q50 (No. 5), Audi A4 (No. 8), Acura TLX (No. 9) and Lincoln MLKZ (No. 10).
But what about the most expensive car brands? Road & Trackmagazine recently published its list of the 13 most luxurious cars, and all of them are truly breathtaking. Cars that made the magazine’s luxury car brands ranking included the Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive, the Rolls-Royce Phantom, the Rolls-Royce Wraith, the Aston Martin Rapide S, the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, and the Bentley Mulsanne.
The choice of the top luxury car brands is really a matter of just how much you are willing to pay to drive a legendary car brand. For example, the Bentley Continental Flying Spur has a suggested base model sticker price of $200,000 – about the cost of a new home in many large cities. And the Bentley Mulsanne is even more expensive – at just over $300,000. At that type of price, you know exactly what to expect – luxurious style, the highest performance possible, and unmatched attention to detail.
When it comes to choosing the most luxurious car, it also depends on whether you want a sports car, a touring car, a compact sedan, or a large sedan. With BMW, for example, you have the choice of the 3 Series, the 4 Series or the 5 Series. And, of course, if you are a big-time celebrity, business mogul or VIP, you are going to want something like the Rolls-Royce Phantom, generally considered to be the benchmark model for ultra-luxury. This is not so much a car that you drive yourself, as one that a professional driver will show up in and drive you in whenever you need to make the trip from your home to your waiting private jet.
The good news for the average car buyer is that many of the features that first show up in the luxury car market can soon make their way into lower-priced models. For that reason, keep an eye on Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, BMW and Audi – those luxury car brands are generally regarded as the top brands on just about any luxury car brands list. And they offer plenty of luxury makes and models that, while expensive, are also within the reach of many consumers.
